Mantis Checkout is in private beta and under construction. Not all features described are active yet, and some information may not yet be accurate. This is for testing only — live payments aren't switched on.

Customer Terms of Service

Effective from: [DATE]

1. Who you are buying from

When you pay at a Mantis Checkout stall, you are buying from the Seller (the stall operator), not from Mantis Checkout. The Seller is responsible for the goods or services you are paying for, including their quality, delivery, and any after-sales support.

Mantis Checkout provides the technology that lets the Seller take payment from you. We are not the merchant of record and we do not hold the goods or operate the stall.

2. Your payment

You may pay by cash, PayID, or by card (including Apple Pay or Google Pay where supported).

Card and wallet payments are processed by Stripe, our payment provider. By providing payment details, you also agree to Stripe's terms of service, which are available at stripe.com.

Cash and PayID payments occur directly between you and the Seller. Mantis Checkout records that the payment has been made when you confirm it, but does not handle the funds for those payment types.

3. Receipts

After payment, you can view a receipt at the URL shown on the checkout page. We do not currently email receipts automatically; if the Seller offers a tax invoice or receipt, please request it from them.

4. Refunds and disputes

If you have a problem with a purchase, contact the Seller first. Most issues are resolved directly between you and the Seller — refunds, exchanges, missing items, quality problems.

If you paid by card and cannot resolve the issue with the Seller, you may also have the right to dispute the charge with your card issuer (a chargeback). Stripe handles chargebacks in accordance with the relevant card scheme rules.

You may also have rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which provides consumer guarantees about goods and services. These rights cannot be excluded by contract.

Our Refund and Dispute Policy provides more detail.

5. Using the platform appropriately

You must not use the Mantis Checkout customer flow to:

6. Privacy

We collect and handle Personal Information about you in accordance with our Privacy Policy. The Seller may also collect information about you in connection with your purchase; how the Seller handles that information is the Seller's responsibility.

7. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights or remedies you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded by contract.

Subject to the previous paragraph, we are not liable for: the quality or characteristics of goods or services you buy from a Seller; the conduct of the Seller; or failures of third-party payment services outside our reasonable control. Our liability for any claim arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid in the transaction giving rise to the claim.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of South Australia.
